StarScope does not collect, store, transmit, or share any personal information.
Data we access
- Location (GPS) — used only on your device, in real time, to compute which constellations and planets are above your horizon at your current position. Coordinates never leave your device.
- Device motion (accelerometer / gyroscope / compass) — used only on your device to determine which direction your phone is pointing at the sky.
- Camera — used only on your device to show the live AR view behind the constellation overlay. No frames are saved or transmitted.
- Photo library (write only) — when you tap the shutter button, the captured screenshot is saved to your Photos. We never read your existing photos.
Data we don’t collect
- No analytics
- No crash reporting
- No advertising
- No user accounts
- No network requests of any kind (except optional ISS satellite position fetched anonymously from
wheretheiss.at)
ISS tracking
If you have International Space Station tracking enabled, the app fetches the current ISS coordinates from the public API https://api.wheretheiss.at/v1/satellites/25544. This request contains no identifying information about you.
Children
StarScope is suitable for all ages and contains no advertising or in-app purchases.
Changes
Any update to this policy will be published on this page along with a new “Last updated” date.
